Live Bodypainting and Mural: “The Duality of Opposing Forces.”
Solas Studio, May 23rd, 2018

Concept: “The Duality of Opposing Forces”

“The ultimate truth I intend to express through this art piece shows duality at its core—the concepts of both good and evil that are woven within each one of us. And yet, the evils that manifest in our world do not just exist so that we may know what good is in contrast, so that in knowing both good and bad we can, therefore, know what God is, because God is all that is. There IS, in ultimate truth, such a thing as dualism. There is both good and evil in the universe directly opposed to each other, and as we have seen in certain points in history, the bad outweighed the good—not all things at any given time are both good and evil in a balanced proportion in the universe. It is today that the final war is being waged by evil forces for our very souls. One thing I know for sure, which enables me to sleep at night, is that the good always prevails. But we must support the good and not ignore the evil, or else evil can seep into every crevice of our world and eventually destroy the foundation of all that once was good.

We have all felt that we have received guidance or intuition from a deep knowing within. But these spiritual messages are revealed by both the celestial angels and the dark rebellion. One spreads truth, and the other spreads deceit and empty promises of things that can never be sustained in a benevolent cosmos.

As Elie Wiesel, the human rights activist and author of Night, the internationally acclaimed memoir based on his experiences as a prisoner in Nazi concentration camps during World War II, said in his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech in 1986, ‘We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men or women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must – at that moment – become the center of the universe.’

Through my writing and painting I hope to share the opposing forces of duality that we internally wrestle with, as we choose ultimately to grow in human compassion to fight for the good.”

NYC Makeup Day 2018, Human Connection Arts at Times Square

Andy Golub brought together a handful of artists who shared their talents with Human Connection Arts on August 11, 2018. We gathered together at Times Square, circled around the Freedom Van, and painted a brave group of lovely models. Lots of smiles and connecting with New York on a human level through the open and accessible avenue of art. There was stormy forecast all day, but the rain held off until pictures were already taken.
